New Directive
Retrofitting directive for trucks becomes effective on 01.10.2008 in Germany
The European Parliament passes the directive for retrofitting mirrors of trucks in July 2007. As the deadline has been fixed for 31st March 2009, the Federal Gouvernment provided at first the refitting for concerned vehicles which has to graduate their general inspection after the 1st July 2008. This regulation becomes operative on 1st October 2008. The deadlines for the other european countries are not availabe at present.
From your local PE partner you will get two different types of templates for identification of the convexity of your mirrors.
Template „A" supports you for retrofitting the wide angle mirror and the ramp (close proximity) mirror on the passenger side. With the smaller convexity radius of 300 mm (according to new directive 2007/38/EG) instead of 400 mm (no longer acceptable following the new directive) the field of view at the passenger side will be enlarged.
Template „B" supports you for retrofitting the main mirror on the driver side and passenger side (correct radius of 1200 mm according to the new directive instead of 2000 mm).
The PE range for mirrors and glass units in OE quality is produced by the worldwide leading manufacturer Mekra Lang.
We've already built up stocks in order to avoid supply problems resulting from the expected high demand.
