Back in 1947, Hermann Peters founded a small trading company in Ennepetal-Voerde at the age of 43. He specialised in spare parts for commercial vehicles, cars and motorbikes and also various standard parts. From the beginning, product quality and customer orientation were of the highest importance. Due to the company's rapid growth, relocation to the nearby Gevelsberg soon became necessary, where the company continued its success story in the subsequent years.
Following the death of Hermann Peters in 1967, Jürgen Freitag, the founder's nephew, took over the management of the company and led the company in a new direction with the specialisation in series and spare parts for commercial vehicles and worldwide sales. The company's rapid growth forced a relocation of production back to Ennepetal (1970). The administration and the warehouse followed four years later. After the death of the owner Martha Peters (1976), the company ownership was transferred to Jürgen Freitag as inheritor.
Three years later, PE was registered as a worldwide copyrighted brand. After the start-up of an innovative high-rack warehouse and the introduction of modern IT systems (1979) came a considerable extension of the administration building and the enlargement of the production capacity (1984). On founding the subsidiary Hermann-PETERS-data GmbH (1995), the PE Group extended its expertise in information technology. With the start-up of a new technology centre (1998), it was possible to extend the product management and product development. The purchasing and quality assurance departments were brought up to the latest technology standards.
By appointing Markus Seitz as Managing Director in 2004, Jürgen Freitag successfully introduced in a new generation into the company management. In addition to the extensive modernisation of the logistic processes and to the increase in warehousing capacity (2005), a logistics centre was brought into operation in Gevelsberg especially for brake drums and discs in 2007.
The quality and customer orientation standards pursued from the beginning by the company's founder, Hermann Peters, still form today's concept for the company and the ORIGINAL PE brand famous worldwide in the industry.
